Modules Autumn Term Human Resource Management in Context introduces the responsibilities of the human resource function and the foundational theories and assumptions that underpin practice. You'll study contemporary issues to gain insight into HR’s role in building organisational capacity. (20 credits) The Changing Nature of Work explores why and how conflicts can emerge between employment and society. You'll examine the impact of gender, class, and contractual relationships on workers and organisations. (20 credits) Skills for Business Leadership considers the strategic role of HR. You'll appraise issues relating to marketing, finance, operations and strategy and evaluate implications for HR. (10 credits) Spring Term Organisation Capacity Building examines practical approaches for resourcing and talent management. You'll learn how organisations forecast and meet their staffing needs. (20 credits) Global Perspectives on Human Resource Management & Employment Relations considers the relationships between businesses and employees on an international stage. You'll critically reflect on the development of multinational corporations and their employment practices, evaluating and critiquing how they respond to diverse institutional pressures (20 credits) Human Resource Management and Sustainability explores how various aspects of the HR function can help to build sustainable organisations. You'll also examine the impact of organisations and the way they are managed on individuals and workplaces, families and society. (20 credits) Spring/Summer Term Research Skills for Human Resource Management will teach you how to design, conduct and evaluate business research, from both an academic and practical perspective. You'll gain skills which will be critical for your dissertation. (10 credits)
