美国大学本科申请中STEM专业最为火热，就读STEM专业不仅会比普通学生额外多出24个月的OPT时间，毕业后有3年的时间留在美国工作。

什么是STEM专业？

STEM代表：科学（Science）、技术（Technology）、工程（Engineering） 、数学（Mathematics）。在国家实力的比较中，获得STEM学位的人数成为一个重要的指标。

因此STEM计划是一项鼓励学生主修科学、技术、工程和数学领域学位的计划，并不断加大科学、技术、工程和数学教育的投入，培养学生的科技理工素养。

2016年5月10日，美国国土安全部公布了STEM专业列表（422个），大家可以通过此表查询确认，如果你的专业出现在了下面的列表中，那么你在今后便可享受STEM OPT延期的福利。

另外，此列表对于“相关领域”进行了说明：相关领域是指与以上四大类领域相关的研究、创新或者新科技研发。

列表中为各专业按领域划分制定了相应编号，STEM专业四大领域的CIP Code分别是：工程类 (CIP code 14)，生物科学类 (CIP code 26)，数学与统计学类(CIP code 27)，物理科学类 (CIP code 40)。一旦有新的STEM专业出现，会被自动添加到列表。
