拼分操作不是ACT官方提供的。

ACT官方在常见问题（FAQ）中回答过：ACT只会递交咱们每次考试日的全部成绩，包括总分、英文分、阅读分、数学分、科学分和写作分数。

拼分，是学校的操作。

也就是说，如果咱们申请的学校接受拼分，他们就会按照一定的规则来完成拼分算分的动作。作为申请者，我们不用提交自己的拼分成绩，只要把每一次的考试成绩提交给校方就可以了。
那校方会用什么规则来拼分算分呢？规则一共3种。
1、参考最高小分。热门大学常用机制。
2、拼接各科最高分算分。
3、参考最高分。
其中，规则1有22所学校使用，规则2、3几乎平分了使用拼分规则的剩下132所学校。根据我们的核查，规则3使用的学校要稍微多一点。

规则1：参考最高分
Purdue、MIT、Stanford这些世界高排名大学一般都使用这种参考制。
以下是麻省理工(MIT）的招生办写的拼分规则原文
If you take the same test (SAT, ACT, or an SAT Subject Test) multiple times, we will consider the highest score achieved in each section（考虑每个部分的最高分）. This superscoring also applies to students who submit scores from both the "old" and "new" SAT. We do this in order to consider all applicants in their best light.
Students are free to use the College Board's Score Choice option and the ACT's option to submit the scores of your choice（利用ACT官方选项去递交自己选好的ACT分数） as well.

规则2：拼接各科最高分算分
以下是top 25美国大学里唯一采用算分拼分规则的Washington University的拼分规则原文：
For the ACT, Washington University considers your highest section scores across all the test dates that you submit（在所有提交的成绩里，考虑最高的那个小分）. Each time you submit scores, we will update your record with any new high scores（每一次你提交分数后，我们会用你的新高分更新你的记录）.

规则3：参考最高分
以下是迈阿密大学的拼分规则原文：
The Admission Committee will consider all official test scores from multiple test dates（考虑所有的提报分数）. They will use the highest composite score from among each test that you’ve taken（使用所有成绩中最高的总分）. This is called super scoring. There is no limit to the number of test scores you may submit to us for your application.

打开院校官网
搜索栏里搜索“superscore”。superscore是拼分的英文讲法。
注意拼分规则里score的限定词。composite score是总分，如果拼分规则采用这个词，就是规则3，所以，一定要电话或者邮件询问确认一下是否可以拼小分。可以拼小分的拼分规则里会明确的写出来subscore、section score这些词。
